• “Patch” aka Nairobi School

I had an GREAT experience today. TODAY, I was able to visit my high school that I last saw when I left as a graduate in December 1995. 15 years later I was waking through the gate again and  I still felt a strong connection to my school similar to how I felt when I drove through the gate and under the trees those many years ago when my parents brought me to the school.
    Patch Visit 6.5.11-25
I couldn’t help but feel the strange respect that I had when I attended “patch” in 91-94. I even hesitated walking on the Quad and the front of the school remembering how that was forbidden on the weekend. I smiled though remembering all the good times and troubles as I waked by my old classroom, well at least what was left of it.
I made many great friends here, strong bonds and had numerous sleepless night. I remember looking forward to the rice pudding, the rival rugby matches and  house rivalries. Who can forget the countless holes we made in the fence to either escape to the nearby girls school or to go home and get some food GOOD TIMES!!!!
What resonates the most for me is realizing that this is where I came from being a boy to being a MAN. It felt like a journey complete, coming to my old school, looking and smiling saying I know where I am heading as opposed to when I came as a first year student aka “rubble” wondering what the future held for me.
Here is a tribute to “Patch”  a school that has everything to do with who I am now!! Oh and by the way Baringo was my house and we were kicking ass then in al sports and word is…we still are..3 cheers to BARINGO HOUSE!!
