About two years ago a good friend and brother of mine LEO FAYA approached the crew about a vision he had of a show, his idea was simple, in 10MIN he wanted us to have a conversation about random issues both simple and complex, issues that affect us and the people within the diaspora. It was because of this the show 10 MIN FIX was born. The crew in front of the camera were ALLEN WAMUNGA|PHINY MWANGI|LEO FAYA|MUCHERU NJAGA and MYSELF. The discussions ranged from current affairs, politics, taboo, cultural affairs, cultural norms and so on. We were also fortunate to interview an array of guests and participate in events that exposed us to other ideas, cultures and lifestyles.

Many of us except LEO who was at one point a host at a radio station in Kenya, were very new to the camera , but with time we became more comfortable with the camera and with each other and began having better chemistry as we taped the shows. One of my favorite shows was Season 1 Episode 3 where I became the victim of the vicious sneaky attacks and comments of the one named PHINY (sneaky bastard)

The show has grown, and continued to push us to limits that we haven’t thought of yet but at the same time has given us the opportunity to share our stories, ideas and opinions with a wide range of people within and beyond the diaspora. In order for a show like this to get to the viewing pubic, we have the geniuses behind the cameras. Brothers MIKE WANGUHU & ROY WANGUHU are the geniuses that have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the shows out to the viewing public. They collectively have been behind the camera for quite a few years and have been the minds behind the shooting editing and production of the 10MINFIX show. Their expert opinions on what to say, what works, set design, lightning, editing and production continue to push us to be at our best. MIKE has not been a stranger to great work. He along with RUSSELL KENYA are the brains behind the production company BLACK MEDLEY PRODUCTIONS which produced award winning documentaries HIP-HOP COLONY & NI WAKATI (IT’S TIME)

We still have more we can offer our viewers but since the 1st episode, we have been able to use the platform of simple conversation to invoke ideas, taboo, culture and change and as time progressed, we realize we have plenty in store for our viewers.

Next stop for the 10MINFIX crew is Las Vegas, NV on Feburary 10th-13th for the Rugby Sevens Tournament where we will be mingling and chatting it up with the fans out there. If you are in attendance, make sure you search for the 10MINFIX banner and say what’s up to the crew.
